BBQ Catering & Planning Tips
When you are throwing a barbecue, the food and the grill are undoubtedly going to be at the center of the party. At the same time, you might feel a bit inclined to decorate your yard a little bit in order to give your barbecue more of a festive vibe. Decorating for the party will get your guests even more excited for the event.
The great thing about barbecues is that they are informal by nature. There are no hard rules when it comes to decorating and sometimes, the more mismatched things are, the better. If you are not having too many guests over, then you can use glasses and plates that are different colors and designs. You can also use mismatched chairs. This will give your barbecue a bohemian look. Since a barbecue is meant to be a fun affair, try to go for bright colors if you can. To make the space look really festive, you can hang up colorful paper lanterns and string them around your yard. This will make the party feel like a real celebration.
For a barnyard or picnic feel, cover the tables in gingham tablecloths and hang up bunting. If you really want to go for the barnyard look, then think about putting out some bales of hay. If you like, the hay can even double as seating.
Add some color to your barbecue with brightly-colored balloons that are filled with helium. You can tie the balloons to mason jars and have them serve as centerpieces. If you’re more into flowers, you can fill up glass bottles with flowers. Sunflowers are a wonderful flower that will really stand out. If your barbecue is taking place in the night, you can hang up fairy lights and put out lanterns that are filled with candles.
Don’t forget to decorate the food table as well. You can use tablecloths to cover up a plastic table. If you have a nice, wooden table then use a table runner and let some of the wood show to give off a rustic effect. Put the utensils in baskets, planting pots, or mason jars while the plates and napkins can go in baskets. If the barbecue is in celebration of someone, then you can have the person’s monogram printed onto paper napkins and cups.
